Meet Rembrandt DDH

German Riding pony stallion Rembrandt is a proven International FEI dressage pony, having taken three consecutive young riders to five European Dressage Championships, returning with three medals! Through attaining an elite level of international competition, Remy has proven to be a sane, capable, willing and unflappable mount for his youth riders. Equally happy to be strutting around an FEI ring, or hacking out with his rider across the English countryside, he truly demonstrates the ideal of versatility of the German Riding pony. His strength of character and good nature shine through as he clearly loves his job and does it willingly. It’s this abundance of sensibility, presence and exceptional character, along with three correct gates, and an eye catching elegance that he consistently passes on to his progeny.

Performance: From an early age, Remy have proven himself; he won the elite Dutch Pavo Cup in Ermelo three times as a four, five and six year old, showing that he is a very versatile stallion, not only for dressage, but also offering a fine jump.  This also makes him an ideal choice to breed all-round competition ponies.

As a young stallion, Rembrandt was also champion at the Landeschampionat Rastede, Germany, Champion part-Welsh, 4th in the Bundeschampionate, Gold in the Imperial Riding cup, Dutch Champion.

Later in his career, Rembrandt was selected for the European Championships in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2015, bringing home two Gold’s and a Silver, as part of the winning Team for Great Britain in the 2015 European Championships.

With the European Dressage team he won Gold in 2010 and team Silver in 2009 for the Netherlands.  Under Maria van de Dungen and with Maisie Scruton he gained the highest British score in the team test at the Pony European Championships in 2011 (Poland), as well as 6th place with 72.250% . He had a successful International competition year in 2015, ridden by 13 yr old rider Clare Hole, with top scores and many top three placings.

Remy’s full sister competed for the German Eventing team in Malmo 2015 at the age of seven, proving athleticism runs in the family! In addition, with his unflappable temperament Remy has been used to help temper hotter warmblood mares and improve rideability, a characteristic already appearing in his early offspring now going under saddle.

His elegant type makes him a versatile sire for the breeding of top sport ponies, adding quality and elegance to produce competitive dressage mounts in a smaller package.

Rembrandt was U25′s National Champion in 2013 at medium level and the only pony to be placed at the Senior National Championships Medium Open in 2013.

Rembrandt’s interests include a love of competing, eating, sleeping (can't have too many power naps), carrots, apples, bananas, pears, being groomed and generally well loved. He has been confirmed WFFS and CA N/N in 2019.

Rembrandt is offered to North American breeders via excellent quality frozen semen. His first foal bred this side of the pond is filly CGF R-Owyn, born May 2020. Conceived first try, on one dose, she is one of now several Remy babies bred in North America (so far, all fillies!).
